Our Work in Southeast Asia
![]()
Our flagship iLab in Cambodia has been open for more than half a year now, and already they are doing remarkable work identifying requirements, refining solutions, and using their new tools to improve regional public health.. InSTEDD's largest current effort is in Southeast Asia, where we are partnering with national governments and regional networks, such as the Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance (MBDS) network.
We are working with them to find ways existing or new software tools can support them in finding diseases sooner and responding collaboratively. This on-the-ground focus, including our Phnom Phen Innovation Lab, ensures that whatever we adapt or develop is practical and useful to those in the field. If you would like to visit our iLab in Southeast Asia, contact us at info@instedd.org.
The Mekong Collaboration Program supports regional government and NGO partners in improving detection and response to infectious diseases through deployment of technology tools.
On October 13-15, 2008, over 65 people gathered from around Cambodia to participate in a CDC-led avian influenza pandemic training and simulation exercise in the Stung Treng province. CDC provided the public health training and InSTEDD introduced and tested new uses of mobile phones that will help with pandemic preparedness and response.
